Who to contact about your child
At City Academy we are committed to working with students, parents and carers to build a strong relationship so our students can achieve their best. One of the most important parts of this partnership is contact between home and the academy. This guide shows who to contact if you have concerns about your child and how to contact them. We hope this will help you communicate with us so we can work together to support your child.
|1. Form Tutor||Your child’s Form Tutor will see your child every day in Form Lesson and so is the person in the academy who knows your child best. A Form Tutor is responsible for a class of students and so has the opportunity to really get to know those children. They will be able to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns you may have about your child’s welfare. It is your child’s Form Tutor that you will meet with on the Progress Review Days throughout the year.||
|2. Leader of Year||Your child’s Leader of Year will see your child in assemblies and when they are visiting form groups during Form Lesson, so they will know your child well, but maybe not as well as your child’s Form Tutor. A Leader of Year is responsible for a whole year group so will know all the children but will not be as involved with them as their Form Tutor.||
|3. Assistant Vice Principal||Our Form Tutors and Leaders of Year are dedicated to the progress and well-being of our students but sometimes things can go wrong. If you are unhappy with how your issue has been dealt with you can contact the Assistant Vice Principal. The Assistant Vice Principal works closely with the Leaders of Year and so will have knowledge about what is happening across the academy. However, as he is responsible for the all year groups, he will not have detailed knowledge of every child.||
|4. Vice Principal||The Vice Principal oversees the pastoral work of the academy. If you have a query, comment or complaint about the pastoral system within the academy you can contact the Vice Principal.||
|5. Principal||The Principal makes every effort to know all the students in the academy but she cannot know them well. The Principal is responsible for the running and development of the whole academy which means she is not normally available to speak to parents/carers. However, she is determined to support all our students so they can achieve their best.||
