A wide variety of food is provided via the self-service cafeteria; a range of popular dishes are available or students can choose from a menu of individually priced items. The variety of foods on offer enables students to have a balanced meal. Menus are changed weekly on a 3-week cycle. Biometric Catering System
City Academy Norwich operates a cashless system for the catering service at the Academy to improve on the quality of the school meal service.
We are sure that you will appreciate the advantages this system offers to the parents and students of the Academy. It enables us to deliver a more efficient, faster service, whilst providing wholesome, healthy and enjoyable meals at the lowest cost.
The system, which has been fully operational for several years now, means that no cash can be accepted to purchase food and snacks. For your convenience, however, and to assist us in the administration of the service, you may pay by cheque. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Caterlink’ and left with Reception staff. Please write the full name of the student and form group on the back of the cheque and place in an envelope.
Any amount of money can be paid into the students account held within the system. Money spent on food will be taken out of the system and can always be checked by using the revaluation terminal to see how much is left.
The school is also able to provide you with a report detailing each item of food served, each credit made to the system for any time period and also a current balance.
There is a daily ‘spend limit’ programmed into the system of £4.00. This can be increased or decreased for an individual student by making a written request to the Catering Manager. Students on Free School Meals will have their account automatically credited with the allocated amount each day.
Should you wish your child to continue to bring money into school for their lunch, the facility for accepting cash payments for the day or number of days will still be available. All cash however will have to be entered on the system by using the automatic cash terminals and cannot be used to buy food directly at the lunch counters.
The cash terminals are programmed to accept £20, £10 & £5 notes, £2, £1, 50p, 20p and 10p coins and are located in the Atrium.
On admission to City Academy Norwich, we ask that you give your permission for us to use your child’s biometric data (finger print). You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to the school.
If you do not wish your child’s biometric information to be processed by the school, or your child objects to such processing, we will provide reasonable alternative arrangements that allow them to access the relevant services.
