On Thursday 30th January, 35 students from Year 9 and 10 took part in a Street Law Workshop run by five students from the UEA Law Department. The students took part in a mock trial. The case involved a post on Facebook, seen by some as a laugh, but others as harassment. Both the Year 9 and Year 10 juries decided that the defendant was guilty and the judges gave harsh sentences.
All the students engaged really well in preparing for the trial and played their parts excellently with the help of wigs and gowns. They also debated whether actions on social media should be punished legally and raised lots of interesting points.
