Principals Message - 21st July 2017

Mrs Edwards, Vice Principal on behalf of Mrs Sparrow, Principal:

It was great to see so many young people involved in the recent CAN’s Got Talent.  This was a huge success, thank you to everyone that came to support this event.

Another fantastic whole school event was Sports Day.  Students showed great team spirit and encouragement towards each other and this was a delight to see.

The FLY (Festival of Literature for Young People) engaged students with author talks, a reading flash mob and a writing workshop, not to mention the fabulous costumes of the English team!  This formed part of the Year 6 transition programme.  This has gone very well with students settling in to Academy life with a range of literacy and numeracy activities as well as a scavenger hunt which students enthusiastically enjoyed.

Thank you for attending the recent Progress Review meetings.  These are an important time to speak to your child’s form tutors regarding their academic development to ensure they are on track for expected progress.

A reminder that students must be wearing the correct uniform so please take the opportunity of the summer break to ensure students are looking smart and ready to learn in September.  Reading for a short period every day will also help students continue to make progress across the summer.

Have a relaxing summer break and we look forward to seeing students on Tuesday 5th September.
