Bronze Youth STEMM Award for Year 10 girls

Huge congratulation to our amazing year 10 girls who have been awarded the Bronze Youth STEMM Award.   On Tuesday 26th June, they attended an Award Celebration where they collected their certificates and medals. They are some of only 150 young people ever to receive this award so far so it's a massive achievement. It meant putting in a minimum of 45 hours worth of voluntary work across 4 strands:

  1. Inspiring the next generation
  2. Engaging the public
  3. Developing your skills and knowledge
  4. Shaping your future

They put in a lot of hard work and effort throughout the year to fit in these hours, which included helping out at open days and Science Club, participating at science festivals, and going to conferences to name just a few!

Those who achieved the award are:

  • Katie Roberts
  • Nicola McKeating
  • Linda Afriyie
  • Martyna Risvaite
  • Jasmine Smith
  • Rita Sousa
  • Chloe Carter
  • Jogita Ozola

The Youth STEMM Award is a bit like the Duke of Edinburgh Award but for STEMM related activities. This will run again next year at CAN for those that want to achieve the Bronze or Silver Award. Please let your science teacher know if you're interested and check out https://ysawards.co.uk/
