A fundamental principle of City Academy Norwich is to provide a stimulating and engaging curriculum, which meets the needs of all students.  Therefore, an inclusive and personalised approach has been created to engage students in an educational pathway, which best meets their interest, ability and needs.

All students will study a core of GCSEs, in Maths, English and Science.  Further core (non examined) subjects include Physical Education and Personal, Social and Health Education.

Three main curriculum pathways are followed in Key Stage 4 and have been created to offer a stimulating and appropriate curriculum for all students.  The pathways provide a wide range of subjects (over 25 GCSE and Vocational courses), which are delivered at both level 1 and 2. 

The Baccalaureate pathway focuses upon academic GCSEs at the highest grades, leading students to further and higher education.

The Core pathway provides students with the opportunity to combine a core of academic GCSE subjects with practical GCSEs and vocational subjects, which may lead to further and higher education.

The Foundation pathway has a largely vocational bias.  Students will study GCSEs in the core subjects and two other in-school options (GCSE or Vocational) as appropriate.  In addition, students will study a two year, one day a week vocational course at a local provider.  It is expected that foundation students would progress into appropriate vocational further education provision.
