Hi, my name is Sarah and I am the CAN Registered Nurse. I work with Norfolk Educational Services as part of the TEN Group.
I have over 20 years of acute nursing experience, including working in Australia for a couple of years. I have 12 years’ experience in working in colleges and schools, and really enjoy it!
I also have a counselling qualification and am qualified to teach too, which comes in handy to provide extra support for the first aid staff here at CAN.
Since starting here in November 2015, I have set up a medical room at CAN which is staffed by either myself or a first aid trained member of staff in my absence. I have developed a system whereby each student who requires medical care or medications at school now has a fully comprehensive care plan in place. All injuries and illness are dealt with by myself or a member of staff who is fully qualified to practice first aid.
I have amended the medication policy to ensure that all students who require medication at school have prescribed medication from their GP for us to keep at school. This helps to keep students safe and well at school and helps to maintain good attendance! This practice also supports staff, especially those who I have trained to administer medication, as it promotes good and safe practice.
If you would like to meet with me, please call to arrange an appointment or ask at reception. I will then discuss any needs or issues your child may have.
