Proposed transfer of control at City Academy Norwich

Proposed transfer of control at City Academy Norwich from the TEN Group to Bohunt Education Trust

Dear Parent / Carer

We are writing to let you know about important and exciting new changes to the management of City Academy Norwich, which will mean that control of the school passes from The TEN Group to Bohunt Education Trust (BET).

This will be confirmed when the Government gives its approval, as expected, within the next few weeks.

TEN Group has been sponsoring City Academy Norwich for the last 8 years. There have been many positive changes including the opening of the new building, improved behaviour and exam results, and providing opportunities for all.

We believe that this progress can best be continued under BET, and that it is very much in the interests of all our students.

BET is a high-performing, innovative academy trust which currently runs five successful schools and a sixth form. The founding school in the Trust, Bohunt School, was named School of the Year by TES in 2014 and was rated ‘Outstanding’ in every category in its latest Ofsted report. The Trust is also a strong school improvement provider, with a proven record of success, reflected in the rapid and sustained turnaround of Priory School in Portsmouth, which soared to a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating this year after joining the Trust two years ago.

Mrs Sparrow is very excited about the support the move to Bohunt means. From the very start of this term Gary Green and Paul Collin are joining the Academy Executive Leadership Team. This support will be particularly useful over this term as Mrs Sparrow has been diagnosed with cancer and so across this term there will be spells of absence as she has treatment.

On a daily basis, your child will continue to be taught by the CAN staff but will receive greater support. We are committed to providing them with an excellent education so that they have the opportunity to reach their highest potential. If given the go ahead, we will be working closely with BET to ensure a smooth handover, and so that teaching and learning continues as normal.

The TEN Group is proud of what has been achieved with you for City Academy Norwich, its students, and the local community. We would both like to thank you for your valued support of all that has been achieved to date, and that will be achieved in the future. This plan represents a very exciting new chapter for City Academy Norwich, and we are all committed to making it a real success. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Edwards.

Yours sincerely,
